Ulysses European Odyssey (UEO), 2022-2024 yılları arasında 16 ülkede bulunan 18 şehirde gerçekleşen epik bir projedir. Bu proje, James Joyce’ün Ulysses adlı eserinin 18 bölümünde tanımlanan toplumsal ve kültürel temalara dair kamusal mekanlarda sanatsal cevaplar üretmektedir. Aynı zamanda her şehirde 18 kamusal simpozyum döngüsü düzenlenerek Avrupa için yeni bir sanat ve toplum bildirgesi oluşturmak üzere 309 soru (Ulysses, Bölüm 17) üretilmektedir. Proje ayrıca 30 sanatçı konukluğu içermekte ve yeni bir kitap olan Europe-Ulysses (çalışma başlığı) için katkıda bulunacaktır. Ayrıca her şehirden bir yazarın katkıda bulunduğu 18 yeni yazı siparişi de bulunmaktadır. İstanbul da, bu 18 şehirden biridir ve “bir arada yaşama” günlük hayatı Ulysses’in bakışından anlatmak için anahtar kelime haline gelir.

Ulysses European Odyssey (UEO) is an epic project from 2022-2024 across 18 cities in 16 countries, producing artistic responses in public spaces to social and cultural themes identified in the 18 episodes of James Joyce’s Ulysses. At the same time, a cycle of 18 public symposia will be held in each city to produce 309 questions (Ulysses, Episode 17) towards creating a new arts and society charter for Europe. The project also has 30 artist residencies which will contribute to a new book, Europe-Ulysses (working title), alongside 18 new writing commissions, one writer from each city. Istanbul is one of those cities and “coexistence” becomes main keyword to narrate the daily life of the city from the gaze of Ulysses.
