İstanbul´un sokak köpekleri ve şehrin köpeklerle bağı aracılığıyla hafıza ve aidiyet biçimlerini ele alan bir makale-belgesel… İktidar sahiplerinin neredeyse 400 yıldır dönem dönem gündeme gelen yok etme girişimlerine rağmen, sokak köpekleri semt sakinlerinin ısrarlı ve süregelen savunusuyla bir arada var olma ve bakılma haklarını korumaktadır. Taşkafa, sokak köpeklerinin tarih boyunca süregelen hikâyesini öykücü, yazar, eleştirmen John Berger´in eşsiz metinleri ve sesiyle anlatarak kamu ve iktidar arasındaki ilişkiyi, alan, kimlik ve aidiyet, kültürel ezber kavramlarını araştırırken tek yönlü bakışa karşı duran bir belgesel.
Taşkafa: A Street Story
An video-essay that deals with Istanbul’s forms of memory and belonging through stray dogs and the city’s connection with dogs… Despite the attempts of the rulers to exterminate them, which have been on the agenda from time to time for almost 400 years, stray dogs protect their right to coexistence and being cared for by the persistent and ongoing defense of the residents. Taşkafa is a documentary that stands against a one-way view while exploring the relationship between public and power, space, identity and belonging, cultural memorization concepts by telling the story of stray dogs throughout history with the unique texts and voice of the storyteller, writer and critic John Berger.
