Salgın ve İsyan
Bu kayıtları ve röportajları Oytun salgın ve karantina günlerinde Kanada’dan göndermişti. O günlerde salgın zamanlarına dair bir belgeleme çalışması yapmaktı niyetimiz. Sonrasında herkes kendi hayatta kalma taktiklerine gömüldü. Yine o zamanlarda Geroge Floyd’un polisler tarafından öldürüldüğü ve ardından özellikle Amerika’da kitlesel isyanların yaşandığı günlerde bir başka arkadaş, katıldığı protestolardan kaydettiği görüntüleri bize ulaştırmıştı. Bu kayıtların ham hallerini yayınlayabilmiştik. Ancak Oytun’un gönderdiği röportajlara sakin kafayla bakabilmem için beş yıl geçmesi gerekti. Aslında hem salgına hem de isyana dair yapılan kayıtlar birbiri ile konuşuyormuş meğer.
Epidemic and Rebellion
These recordings and interviews were sent by Oytun from Canada during the days of the pandemic and lockdown. At the time, our intention was to create a documentation project about the pandemic period. Afterwards, everyone became immersed in their own survival strategies. Around the same time, during the days when George Floyd was killed by police officers and mass protests erupted, especially across the United States, another friend sent us footage he had recorded at the demonstrations he attended. We were able to publish the raw versions of those recordings. However, it took five years before I could look at the interviews Oytun had sent with a calm mind. It turns out that the recordings about both the pandemic and the uprising were actually in conversation with each other all along.
