İstanbul’un Artığı
“İstanbul’un Artığı” sokağa atılan/bırakılan atığı fotoğraf ve video kamerasıyla takip ederek, atık toplayıcıların gündelik yaşamları ve kullandıkları kent mekanlarına odaklanıyor. Yapılmış olan otuz iki video, İstanbul’un iki farklı merkezi olan Beyoğlu ve Ümraniye’deki atık toplayıcıların hızla dönüşen İstanbul’a ne şekilde eklemlendiğinin izini sürüyor. Diğer yandan geçmiş yıllardan videolarla bir hafıza birlikteliği kuruyor. Kentsel dönüşüm, iş güvenliği, çocuk işçi emeği, etnik kimlik, göç ve memleket, futbol ve yerel seçimler gibi farklı ama aynı zamanda birbirine geçen olgu ve pratiklerin atık toplayıcıların yaşamlarına etkisini bedenleşen kamerasıyla görüyor, görünür kılıyor, kentin farklı mekanlarına atıkçıların gözünden bakıyor. Kentte çevresel atık, emek koşulları ve göçmen kimliklerin kesiştiği ortak meselelerin odağında bir görsel hafıza oluşturuyor.
Surplus of İstanbul
“Surplus of Istanbul” follows the waste disposed/left on the streets by camera and focuses on the daily lives of people picking waste and the urban spaces where they work. Thirty two videos, trace the ways in which waste pickers are included in Istanbul’s rapidly changing urban space. On the other hand it forms an alignment of memory with the videos produced before. Through an all set camera, the effects of diverse but interrelated issues such as urban transformation, safety at work, child labor, ethnic identity, migration and homeland, football and local elections on the lives of waste pickers are seen and made visible. It produces a visual memory at the intersection of shared issues of environmental waste, labour conditions and identities of immigrants.
