‘Herkes, sevmediği ve hatta iğrendiği bir özelliği hayvanlarda gördüğünde hayranlıkla karşılar.’ Biz insanlar, öteki, diğeri, farklı olan üzerinden algıladığımız her şeye yabancılaşmayı, üzerimize alınmamayı, düşünmeye gerek duymaksızın becerebiliyoruz. Binlerce yıldır görme duyumuz kadar çalıştırılan, yönlendirilen başka bir duyumuz yok. Gece uçuşu, keskin gözlü ve gece yaşayan bir baykuş yahut kör bir kartal tarafından yapılıyor olabilir. Sergide, farklı türden hayvanların yaşadıkları anlar, sanatçının dokunuşuyla tekrar can buluyorlar, biz izleyiciler de görmeyi kaçırdıklarımıza bir kez daha bakıyoruz. Hayvan figürleri de çoğunlukla tekil varoluşlarıyla değil, hareketleriyle ifadeyi çağrıştırıyorlar. Raziye Kubat, fotoğrafı çekilerek özel alanından soyutlanan ve sanal dünyanın bir verisi haline gelen bu hayvanları zarafetle özgürleştiriyor. Raziye Kubat’ın çizimleriyle ve sesiyle can verdiği hikayelere Alper Şen, video anlatımıyla eşlik ediyor.

“Everyone admires it with fascination when they see a trait in animals that they do not like or even find repulsive. We, as humans, have the ability to alienate ourselves from everything we perceive through the lens of ‘the other,’ ‘the different,’ without taking it personally, without the need for thought. For thousands of years, our sense of sight has been as active as it gets, and we have no other sense that is directed and honed to the same extent. Night flight may be carried out by a sharp-eyed owl or a blind eagle. In the exhibition, moments lived by different types of animals come to life once again through the artist’s touch, and we, the viewers, take another look at what we missed seeing. Animal figures often evoke expression not through their individual existence but through their movements. The artist gracefully liberates these animals, who have been captured in photographs, isolated from their natural habitat, and turned into data in the virtual world. Alper Şen accompanies the stories brought to life by Raziye Kubat’s drawings and voice with video narration.
