Toplumsal bellek, bir toplum veya grup içinde paylaşılan ve aktarılan anıların, deneyimlerin ve bilginin ortak havuzuna atıfta bulunur. Collective memory refers to the shared pool of memories, experiences, and knowledge that is shared and passed down within a society or group. It is shaped by cultural, social, and historical factors, and it plays a crucial role in shaping identity, understanding the past, and constructing narratives about the present and future. Understanding collective memory is essential for comprehending how societies construct their identities, reconcile with past traumas or injustices, and navigate contemporary challenges. The value of found images emerges at this stage. Carrying the images of the past to the present with minimal intervention, placing the images deemed to have nostalgic value into a place in collective memory, and keeping them alive in the collective memory without sanitizing archival records might mean preserving them in collective memory.
