Kişi neyi niçin unutur? Goethe Enstitüsü Ankara’da yapılan sergi bu sorudan yola çıksa da sonuç; bellek, vicdan ve direnç üzerine bir anlatı niteliğinde. Toplumsal bellek, bundan doğru kişisel bellek direnç göstermediği, baş etmediği durumları, olayları derin bir unutuşa bırakır. Gerçek bir unutuşun olanaksızlığını bir yana bırakırsak belleğin bu itkisi tek çözüm olmayabilir. Geçmiş denilen katmanlarla “baş etmekten” söz ederken belki de onlarla hemhal olmak, geçmişin kişi ve böylece toplum ile birlikte dönüşen bir hâl alması daha anlamlı olacaktır. Sine Ergün’ün küratörlüğünde Sultan Burcu Demir’in heykel yerleştirmesine, Alper Şen yazdıklarıyla katkıda bulunuyor.

Why does a person forget what and why? Although this exhibition in Goethe Institute Ankara starts from this question, the result is a narrative about memory, conscience, and resistance. Social memory leaves situations and events that personal memory did not resist, did not cope with, to a deep forgetting. Leaving aside the impossibility of true forgetfulness, this impulse of memory may not be the only solution. Perhaps, when talking about “coping with” the layers called the past, it will be more meaningful for them to be integrated with them, and for the past to become a state that transforms along with the individual and thus society. In the curatorship of Sine Ergün, Alper Şen contributes with his writings to Sultan Burcu Demir’s sculpture installation.
